Uploading your web site with Microsoft FrontPage 98.

You've built your web site on your PC.  Now it's time to publish it on the world wide web.

What NOT to do.

Do not try to use the Publish to the World Wide Web feature that comes with FrontPage.  That is used only if you have an FTP folder. The directions below will show you how to Import your web to your domain on a Power Shift web server.

Step One...

Start Microsoft FrontPage 98. Click the More Webs button.

Step Two...

The List Webs dialog box will open.  In the box that says "Select a Web server or disk location", type your domain name, 
i.e.. www.myweb.com. Click the List Webs button.

When <Root Web> shows up in the "FrontPage Webs found at location:" box, click OK.

Step Three...

Enter your user name and password. Click OK.

Step Four...

FrontPage Explorer will the directory of your web. Pull down the File menu and select Import. When the Import File to FrontPage Web dialog box appears, click the From Web button.

Step Five...

Choose the source of your web. In most cases, you'll choose "From a source directory of files on a local computer or network" Make sure to check the "Include subfolders" check box.  Click the Browse button.

Step Six...

Browse for the web on your hard disk.  With Windows 95, look for the wwwroot folder under c:\Webshare and double-click to expand.  Click on your web folder and click the OK button.

Step Seven...

Confirm the web site to import. Click the Next button.

Step Eight...

Confirm file list. You can exclude some files by clicking on them and then pressing the Exclude button.

Step Nine...

Click Finish. After clicking the finish button, your web site will start importing onto your domain at the Power Shift Online server. This may take some time, depending on the size of your web site.
