Site Publishing with Dreamweaver 4

FTP Configuration

  1. Launch Dreamweaver
  2. In Dreamweaver 4, click on Site then select Define Sites...
    Define Sites
  3. Specify the Local Info for your website with the following:
    1. The Site Name: is the name of the website
    2. The Local Root Folder: is where the website is stored on your computer, click the folder icon to browse for it if necessary
    3. Enter in your URL in the HTTP Address: field

  4. Click on Remote Info in the Category list on the left
  5. Specify the Remote Info for you website with the following:
    1. Access: FTP
    2. In the FTP Host: field, enter the IP Address of the server
    3. In the Host Directory: field, enter /www (for sites on the unix servers) or /companyname (for sites on the Windows servers) where www.companyname.com is your URL without "http://"
    4. In the Login: field, enter your Account Name
    5. In the Password: field, enter you Password

Remote Info

Connecting to the Server

  1. In the Site window, select the website you wish to publish
    Select Site
  2. Click on the Connect icon
    Connect
  3. Enter your password and click OK
    Password

Uploading Content

  1. In the Local Folder window on the right, select the files you wish to upload by left clicking on them (use shift + click to highlight multiple files)

  2. Click on the Put File(s) arrow

Downloading Content

  1. In the Remote Site window on the left, select the files you wish to download by left clicking on them (use shift + click to highlight multiple files)

  2. Click on the Get File(s) arrow
    Get Arrow
