Personal Web Site Space

Below is the information you will need to log in and FTP your web pages up to your personal space. If you do not already have an FTP program, the one I use is called CuteFTP, and is available as a trial version for free download. Other options include BulletproofFTP or WSFTP_LE. All are good programs that are easy to use.

You'll see that it splits your screen into two sections, left and right (most FTP programs do this, though some split the screen top and bottom). Left is your computer, right is ours.

When you log in, you can drag files from your computer to ours, without difficulty. If you want files visible to the Internet, then you will need to upload your files into the folder marked "www".

The server you will be uploading to is freesites.pshift.net, using your normal Powershift username and password.

For other people to see those files, send them to: http://freesites.pshift.net/~username

The default file the server will send (the home page of your personal site) should be called "index.html"; otherwise, you will need to direct visitors to a specific file: http://freesites.pshift.net/~username/specific-file.html
